I discovered my talent doodling in class as a Junior in High School. With the perfect mentors placed in my life, I have been evolved into the artist whose work you see here today. In AP Studio Art, Senior year, I found myself drawing and painting patterns on my canvases that could be repeated side to side. My teacher, Christine Adolph, then told me,“I think you should be a Textile Designer.” When she explained to me what a textile design position entailed I honestly had no idea what she was talking about. She connected me with an internship at Billabong straight out of High School and there I continued to be mentored by Francesca Moore who basically taught me everything I know today. I am so greatful for the people that have been placed in my life because without them, I would be far from where I’m at today. I am not my own and I consider everything in my life to be a blessing from God. He created me to create and all of this is my creation.
I have a love not just for textile design, but all design in general. You can’t contain a creative eye. However, textile design has stolen my heart.
I am passionate for my work all the way from concept to creation. I am very skilled at taking inspiration and handcrafting prints with a loved and worn-in feeling. With the exception of a few, all of my prints are hand-drawn and scanned into the computer where I manipulate layout and color.
On the side I sew one of a kind kimonos made of 100% recycled vintage indian saris. I currently sell them on etsy and you can find them under One Of A Kind Kimonos.
